US activities result in a lower attendance in Montreal as organisers consider alternative venues
Where do you think the next Global Interactive Gaming Summit and Expo should be held?
The GIGSE organisers are asking for preferences to ensure that there's a good turnout next year when this keynote event on the Internet gambling calendar celebrates its 10th anniversary.
In a letter to delegates, River City Group CEO Sue Schneider says that the last gathering in early June reflected the overall mixed tone of the industry in this strange new (US) environment, with reactions ranging from enthusiasm over a newly-leveled playing field and excitement about all the new faces in attendance to downright mourning by old-timers who saw clearly that things have changed so dramatically.
"Given the skittishness about attending i-gaming events near the United States, River City Group Clarion is reevaluating the location choices for GIGSE '08, the 10th anniversary of this core industry event," writes Schneider. "Because we already have existing events in Europe and Asia as well as consideration of one in South America in '08, we're asking for your input on possible locations".
"Our criteria for event locations include:
* ease of international flights;
* venue which accommodates 1 000+ attendees;
* adequate IT infrastructure in the venue to meet the needs of both exhibitors and attendees."
